Friday January the 26th, 2018, I visited Ola's Beauty Saloon and Store Collections at Ilaje bypass the centre of an ongoing training involving 30 registered youths in line with the Federal Government policy on employment generation through skills acquisition programmes for the unemployed youths in the country. They are being trained in Beauty therapy, hairdressing and Hair gear tying (gele) among others. There exist other training centres for barbing and computer training that I didn't visit.
This training falls under National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Short duration training in Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme under its Vocational Skill Development programme, for youths. This program was assisted and encouraged by Hon. Ajibola Famurewa (MHR) and all the trainees and the trainees were selected by his Constituency office.
This came as he is presently training another batch of 500 youths in various skills across his Federal Constituency of Ilesa East and West and Atakunmosa East and West in his efforts to step up efforts at combating unemployment among youths in Ijesaland.
Many of these youths will soon be graduating in various skills such as hairdressing, fashion designing, barbing, tiling, computer works, plumbing and so on.
The trainees of the NDE assisted programme are to be paid stipends and Hon. Ajibola will assist them to take off.
I, Oladimeji Lasore, visited the training centre for the beauticians and interacted with both the trainers and trainees at the Ola's Beauty Saloon training centre and bring you these photos of Ijesa beauties at work.
