PROUDLY IJESA: 2017- Season of Laurels and the Burden of Service for Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye





When the recognition of hard work comes back to back and acknowledgement stumbles on acknowledgement, one must thank his star.
The Lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye who won three remarkable awards in 2017 represents many Nigerians in public service whose activities are on the spotlights.

The first was the South West Headquarters of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Ibadan that rated and awarded Bosun Oyintiloye as the best state lawmaker in the South West region of the country before a United Nations affiliated organization awarded him for his contribution in the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

Precisely on Saturday December 2nd, 2017, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye was declared and awarded as the most outstanding member of state Houses of Assembly in Nigeria by the Patriots in Leadership and service (PILAS) in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
A look into Oyintiloye’s giant steps in lawmaking, human development, sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy and politics at large is enough to justify the ground upon which he was rated and awarded.

Aside from being the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, he is also as a member of other House Committees. Oyintiloye has sponsored five private member bills and moved several motions on the floor of the House.




The bills are, Special People’s Bill 2016, Mandatory Usage of Standardized Measure and Weight Bill 2016, Cattle Trading and Grazing Bill 2016, Natural and Mineral Resources Development Agency (Establishment) Bill 2016 and Osun historical sites, structures and items designation and preservation bill 2016. Four of the bills were presented on the floor of the house the same day, this made him the first lawmaker in sub Sahara Africa to achieve such feat.
The Special People’s Bill 2016 is focused at protecting and providing special consideration for elderly citizens and people living with disabilities in the area of welfare, social development, poverty reduction and social security.
The Mandatory Usage of Standardized Measure and Weight Bill 2016 is directed at resetting the state’s economy through promotion of equity, encouragement of stability, boost confidence in trade and commerce in the state.

In 2015, he received a letter from the people of Ilahun-Ijesa, another community in his constituency on the Havocs wrecked by the herdsmen on their farmland and the need for him to do something before the clash between them and herdsmen turn deadly. After consulting with his people he creatively came up with the Cattle Trading and Grazing Bill 2016.
The uncertain change in weather and that of the economy globally was also noticed by Oyintiloye so he sponsored the Natural and Mineral Resources Development Agency (Establishment) Bill 2016 to protect forestry, natural and mineral resources, as well as make the sub-sector attractive to investors, hence, generate employment opportunity for the citizenry and increase revenue generation for the State.




Yoruba culture is no doubt one of the leading best in the world with historical sites, structures and items, so Olatunbosun Oyintiloye sponsored the Osun historical sites, structures and items designation and preservation bill 2016 which will pave way for the proper preservation of Yoruba’s historical facts, details and items for the coming generation.

Also, he moved a motion concerning the suspended Federal Government projects across the state which summed up to about N20.318 billion.
The projects included road infrastructures, water schemes, and housing, Oyintiloye revealed that, some of the projects have been awarded as far back as 2008 and have either been abandoned or slowed down owing to non-disbursement of fund by the federal government.

While playing his statutory roles as a lawmaker, Oyintiloye has been going steps further to complement the state government’s efforts, especially in the area of human development, capacity building and infrastructural developments.
To address the security challenges in his Constituency, he refurbished and restored the Police's Armoured personnel Carrier (APC).
Architecturally, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye changed the face of Ibokun with the reconstruction and beautification of Ibokun roundabout and also played a leading role in the renovation of the Ibokun ancient palace.









Oyintiloye renovated over 16 shops and constructed an ultramodern 12-room shop at the Ibokun Central Market and built another 8-room stalls in the same Market for the teeming market men and women.
In Ipetu-Ile/Ada Owode markets, he renovated 40 stalls; in Ikiyinwa, he constructed 10 locked up shops among others, for the betterment of the natives.

Oyintiloye dug and also facilitated the drilling of boreholes and hand-pump wells across Obokun State Constituency; he also facilitated the installation of transformers in Ajebandele/Oja Tuntun and Kojegbin communities.

To meet up with best standard, Oyintiloye financed the fencing of the Muslim prayer ground, Ibokun.
He also erected the Ita Osun/Ikiyinwa culvet to link towns and communities in the area while the project of a six room pubic toilet is ongoing in Ilase.

Obokun being a core agricultural dependent areas is one of the reasons why Oyintiloye has been supporting farmers with farming tools and equipments as well as grading and construction of roads leading to farmlands in the constituency.

He started a ward 2 ward empowerment programme to distributed farm inputs to farmers, cash gift to the aged, widows among others.
Olatunbosun has facilitated the construction of Esa-Oke/Esa-Odo road which was in a state of dilapidation; Otan-Ile/Ipetu-Ile road, of Ilase/Coker/ Uniosun road, among many others.








In human development and capacity building, Oyintiloye facilitated employment of numerous jobless qualified Obokun youths into both public and private sectors, he also ensures that farmers and traders from his constituency benefit from government loans and subventions whenever there is any.

Simultaneously, Hon. Olatunbosun is the sponsor and grand-patron of Oyintiloye Football Club and this has been his way of improving sporting activities and participation locally.
In his constituency offices both in Ibokun and Esa Oke, there is always a recreation centre where people, especially youths can engage in various sporting and social activities after work. This alone has reduced crime in the ancient town.

Aside from bagging a hat-trick of awards in 2017, this young energetic lawmaker has been receiving various commendations and recommendations from political parties, civil society groups, religious bodies, corporate organizations and prominent members of the society.
It is a verified fact that his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) treasures him greatly as its main asset. This, the party has shown through the issuance of press releases and statements to identify and celebrate with one of their own.
