In Akure, 42-Year-Old Man Kills in-law Over N30,000 Debt

A 42-year-old man, Segun Oni has reportedly killed his brother in-law, Sunday Oluwadare, 36 in Akure, the Ondo State capital over N30,000 debt.

It was gathered that the incident which happened at Adebowale area of Akure, the state capital was as a result of disagreement on the issue of debt owed by suspected killer.

According to an eyewitness who craved for anonymity, he explained that the deceased had a disagreement with Segun for not paying his #30,000 debt.

“The disagreement led to a fisticuff, and while Sunday was having an upper hand, the suspect went for a log and hit the deceased on the head.

“Before Sunday who married daughter of the suspect’s elder brother, could be taken to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, he had given up the ghost.”

It was also gathered that the suspect who fled after committing the crime, later submitted himself to the police in Akure following the arrest of his wife.

The duo were known for operating tippers and selling of sand and gravel.

Meanwhile the Police spokesperson in the state, Femi Joseph confirmed the incident and said investigation had commenced on it.
