At least 50 children have been rescued so far from a three-storey building which collapsed in the Itafaji area of Lagos Island.
They were rescued by residents of the area who gathered the site, as well as officials from Emergency rescue agencies.
The number of casualties is, however, yet to be determined.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as security personnel including the police, army and National Security and Civil Defence Force (NSCDC) have continued with rescue operations at the scene.
The building, situated at Massey Street at the Adeniji Adele area of Lagos Island caved in at about 9:45 am on Wednesday.
It is said to be about 30 years old.
