Robbers stab doctor to death a day after graduation in Lagos







Dr Stephen Urueye, a House Officer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), was stabbed to death by hoodlums on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Urueye was reportedly robbed of his valuables and stabbed by hoodlums who cornered him along Idi Araba road, where LUTH is located, late on Thursday. He died hours later after efforts to save his life in the hospital failed.

The tragic stabbing happened just a day after Urueye graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday, April 3.

Urueye's death has sparked outrage from students and doctors at LUTH who lamented that the area had been unsafe for a long time without any efforts by security agencies to arrest the situation.

On Friday, April 5, Urueye's colleagues protested against the injuctice of his death and demanded the apprehension of his killers.

Police in Lagos has arrested two persons suspected to have masterminded the killing of a medical graduate of the University of Lagos, Mr Stephen Urueye, at the Idi Araba area yesterday.

According to the Lagos police, the two suspects, Gbadebo Jimoh and Malik Adeboye, were arrested on Friday by operatives from the Itire division.

Both suspects were said to have specialised in snatching phones, money and other valuables in the Idi-Araba area, where the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is located.

And both have been transferred to the state criminal investigation department at the Yaba area of Lagos for further investigation.
