The Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has expressed his belief that broadcasting stations are the closest to the masses, making them them an integral part of the process of governance. "Media is the heartbeat of democracy". He said while emphasising that the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation is the voice of the government to the people of the state.
The Osun Speaker made this remark while receiving in audience the management of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation led by the Director General, Mrs Adejumoke Akinjiola who were on a courtesy visit to the Speaker to felicitate with him on the smooth takeoff of Osun 7th Assembly.
Recall that the OSBC which is today referred to as the Voice of the South West has four stations (two radio stations and two television stations)
The first female Director General of OSBC, Mrs. Jumoke Akindiola also hinted that the broadcasting station shall continue to work hands in hands with the State of Osun House of Assembly (OSHA).
"I want to assure you that we at the OSBC will continue to work assiduously with the Assembly and all the honourable members in all ramifications". She said.
The Speaker assured the OSBC management that the station will enjoy good working relationship with the Osun Assembly while assuring the OSBC of the support of Osun Parliament at securing there essential needs in the area of modern equipment. He also urged the station to avoid inciting news.
