The euphoria surrounding the celebration of Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the State of Osun governor's one year in office continued in Osu town, the headquarter of Atakunmosa West Local Government when on Thursday 28th November, 2019, the Council's Chairman, Hon. Francis Famurewa a.k.a Opomulero, rolled out an empowerment program, that is completely financed from his personal purse, for the people of Osu Ward 1 that produced him as a councillor.
Explaining his travail in politics before he finally became the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Francis Famurewa identified that his people in his ward made it possible and the occasion is a 'payback time'.
In his words, "We are practicing parliamentary system of government, that is uniquely being practiced by the State of Osun in the whole of Nigeria. Before I can be a Chairman of my Local Government, I have to be a Councilor from my political ward. Here we are in Osu Ward 1 of Atakunmosa West Local Government, the people with whom I have a personal and most familiar attachment.
"To appreciate my people the money has to come from my private purse. If Atakunmosa West LG wants to do empowerment as a government, the LG will fund it.
"Personally, I feel obliged to appreciate my people for their support during my election in 2018 and for their support at the 2018 Osun governorship election and for their continuos support for my administration and the administration of the governor at the state level. So I use this occasion thank them and to also celebrate the one year anniversary of the governor in office."
Items that were given out to party loyalist among the youth (male and female), people with special needs, aged men and women among others included a Toyota Camry car, a deep freezer, 2 grinding machines, electric irons, gas cookers and standing fans. Educational materials were also given to some selected schools. All estimated to be above N3m.
Hon. Ajibola Famurewa the Director General of Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Organization performed the launching of the Ileri-Oluwa Continuity Vanguard, a platform that is to work for the reelection of Governor Oyetola's second term. He also addressed the attendees. "Everyone has a different clock". He said as he implored party members to be steadfast in their support for the government and wait for their time, as not everyone will have the opportunity of holding to political posts or being empowered at the same time.
Hon. Segun Olanibi seized the opportunity to explain the oppurtunities that are opened to the youth and women associations under the ministry of Rural the Development that he heads as commissioner.
Other dignitaries that attended the program included Elder Lowo Adebiyi, Hon. Taiwo Akeju, Hon. Pastor Anthony Adeboye, Hon. Barr. B. Omole, Council Manager and Directors of the LG departments among others.
