It was an atmosphere of intense excitement when the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee members were in Omo-Ijesa on Sunday 1st December, 2019 where they were received by the Olomo of Omo Ijesa Oba Oluwaseyi Adeolu Adejola and a strong representation of his chiefs and people that included Chief Akin Oluwakuyide, the Asiwaju of Omo-Ijesa, Chief Fapohunda, the Sajowa and many other chiefs, youth leaders, community leaders too numerous to mention.
The committee members led by Chief Afolabi Igbaroola were given a warmth welcome.
Speaking at the event, Chief Igbaroola said that the visit which is more of an enlightenment on the rebranded Iwude Ijesa festival which became imperative due to worrisome disunity among the Ijesa traditional rulers. "Iwude will enable us to unite, so that we can develop Ijesaland". He said as he appealed to all to forgive and forget all past rancours and misunderstandings.
The Asiwaju of Omo-Ijesa, Chief Akin Oluwakuyide in his welcome address eulogized the committee members as he highlighted the place of culture at fostering unity.
The Olomo of Omo-Ijesa, Oba Oluwaseyi Adeolu Adejola while welcoming the committee members to Omo-Ijesa, that he described as a very authentic Ijesa town that has historical affiliation to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland stool, assured the members of his support and that of his entire people. saying he will make sure his subjects will have a strong representation at this year's Iwude celebration. He did not hide his surprise at the visit and invitation by the Planning Committee.
" We all know that Owa Obokun is our father. He is a father of many children. This invitation to Iwude Ijesa festival is like a royal father calling all his children to come to the palace to receive his benediction ". The Olomo said.
Oba Adejola appealed to the youths of the community to participate at the laid out programs of events of the festival.
Mr. Wale Idowu presented the vote of thanks on behalf of the Planning Committee and he appreciated the patience of all that awaited the committee members as he invited those that can present cultural displays from the town to register for participation, saying that this year's celebration that will have. many Ijesa Obas in attendance planned to be entertaining. The invited guests and all spectators wilk enjoy the richness of Ijesa culture and hospitality". He concluded.
