CP Adekunle Ige, the State of Osun Commissioner of Police was in Ayeso, Ilesa, A Division of the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday 5th December, 2019, to inaugurate the Eminent Personalities Forum (EPF) a grassroots forum that has the backing of the presidency and the Inspector General of Police with the purpose of moving the police closer to the people.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Ige said the eminent personalities are to act as liaisons between the police and their communities as part of the Nigeria Police Force community-focused policing architecture that is expected to bridge the gap between the Police and the citizens with the view of enhancing sustainable law enforcement service delivery.
CP Ige said that the EPF is a bid to curb the rising trend of kidnapping and to champion community policing.
Ilesa eminent personalities that were at the inauguration included, Chief Ogedengbe, the Obanla of Ilesa, Chief Akin Akinola the Sawe of Ilesa, the Lorunyin of Ilesa and Arojo of Irojo were also in attendance.
Also present were Hon. L. B. Ayeni, who currently represents Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives and is the Vice-chairman on House committee on Police Affairs, Leader Kunle Odeyemi and all the four (4) Local Government and LCDAs Chairmen of Ilesa [on. Adesoji Olowoopejobori (Ilesa East LG), Hon. Nuru Giwa (Ilesa West LG), Hon. Adeniyi Oladipo (Ilesa North East LCDA), Hon. Folarin Fafowora (Ilesa West Central LCDA). ] Hon. Femi Kujembola of Atakumosa East LG was also in attendance.
Members of the EPF inaugurated at the event were drawn from a crop of retired civil servants, community leaders and chiefs, artisans and ethnic associations and media community.
The State of Osun Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Adekunle Ige also at the occasion witnessed the handing over of four operational vehicles, (two vehicles refurbished and another two vehicles) bought by Hon. L. B. Ayeni for the harmonized Vigilante Group of Ilesa East and West.
