PHOTONEWS: 2019 Iwude Ijesa Festival; Jumat Service Held in Ipetu-Ijesa Central Mosque






Members of Iwude Ijesa Planning were at the Ipetu-Ijesa central mosque on Friday the 13th of December, 2019 for a Jumat service as part of activities marking this year's Iwude Ijesa festival, the grand finale that will come up on Saturday 21st December.

The Chief Imam of Ipetu ijesa, Alhaji Sakariyau Sarumi preaching at the well attended service seize the opportunity to urge Nigerians to always have the fear of God at heart and be obedient to the commandments of Allah.

He charged the committee not to relent in its efforts at fostering unity among the ijesas for rapid socio-economic development as against individualism which he maintained is responsible for slow pace of progress in the land.




Alhaji Sarumi stressed that the era of referring to people living in the suburbs as second class citizen was long gone noting that the people should endeavor to relate properly with one another for cross fertilization of ideas on how to move Ijesaland forward.

He pointed out that he enjoyed a robust relationship with the past Chief Imams of Ijesaland, wishing the same can be replicated in all sections of the population.

Addressing the congregation the Vice-chairman of Iwude Ijesa Planning committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola said unity of Ijesa people is germane to its transformation and growth.




Chief Igbaroola who also delivered the warmth greetings from the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland to the people, urged them to be on the same page with the committee to build a viral Ijesaland, strong enough to stand the test of time.

Meanwhile, activities lined up for the annual festival of unity continues this Sunday the 15th of December with a Thanksgiving service at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Ibokun in Obokun local government area.




In attendance were the vice Chairman, planning committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Mr Akin Ajayi obe, Mr Wale Idowu, Mr Oladimeji Lasore, Prince Isaac Haastrup, Prince Bepo, Prince Adekunle Ajayi, Mr Oluwatobiloba Omirin and Mrs Oluwabunmi Ogunniyi.
