The State of Osun House of Assembly, after a parliamentary session which held today, 23rd March 2020, has announced through the Chairman of House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon Akande Moshood Kunle that there would be an immediate suspension of all forms of parliamentary activities, plenary sessions and hearings for a stipulated period of 16 days.
This is a corroboration and consolidation of the efforts made by the State of Osun Governor, Ogbeni Gboyega Oyetola who had recently vociferated and ordered the prohibition of all public gatherings and convergence in churches, mosques, schools and at social events as a medium to avoid the outbreak of coronavirus in Osun.
The Chairman also explained that with confirmed cases of 36 infections and 1 death in Nigeria as stated by the NCDC, it becomes expedient for the assembly to suspend all its activities as a preemptive measure to deflect the occurrence of coronavirus in Osun and also as a conformity with the social distancing standard laid down by the World Health Organization.
He then enjoined members of the public and the citizenry of Osun to observe proper hygiene by washing and sanitizing their hands regularly, practice social distancing and self isolation at all times.
