Osun Assembly Members Hear From Health Commissioner on Action of the Ministry in Curbing Covid-19






The State of Osun Commissioner of Health, Mr Rafiu Uzamotu accompanied by the Special Adviser on Health and the Director of Public Health, Phar. Dr Siji Olamidun and Mr Gbenga Adepoju appeared at the plenary of the State of Osun House of Assembly prefixed over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye on Monday 16th March 2020 to brief the House on the recent development and militating actions undertaken by the ministry of health in curbing the spread of the newly discovered pandemic dubbed Covid-19 in the State of Osun.



During their presentation, the medical experts explained succinctly the quintessence and biological disposition of the coronavirus, various ways the virus can spread , demographic that are more liable to suffer gravely from the virus as well as cautionary/preventive measures that can be well employed by the citizenry in minimizing their chances of contracting the disease.

They also introduced to the Honorable members, the need for the procurement, deployment and strategic positioning of infrared hand sanitizers in the House of Assembly as there is usually an influx of visitors and guests from all over the country and beyond.

Post-presentation, the Speaker, Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye added that the Ministry  should endeavor to provide viable and accessible hand washing materials to public schools in the state and also be more proactive in sensitizing members of the public about the severity of the coronavirus as well as the rubrics of proper hygiene as he thanked the trio for their time, cooperation and professionalism.
