Thursday 9th April, 2020 witnessed the commencement of the distribution of the State of Osun government's relief packages to the community leaders in Ilesa East Local Government and Ilesa North East Local Community Development Area (LCDA).
The State governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola had on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of palliatives to the people of Osun to mitigate the effects of the ongoing 14-day Sit-at-Home Order, imposed to contain the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus disease in the State.
Thus, Ilesa East State Constituency received 190 bags of 50kg rice from the State of Osun government and according to the plan these were to spread over the 95 polling units of the existing in the Constituency. Each polling unit is to get 2 bags but these will not go over all the communities as there are more communities than the polling units. So the leaders decided to tow the line of distribution on communities basis and there are 110 communities. Hence, the local councils Chairmen, Hon. Akeem Adesoji Olowoopejobori and Hon. Oladipo Adeniyi provided additional 50 bags as a means to support the government. Not only this, the parliamentarians of the Councils also provided additional 300 bags of beans.
Each of the 110 communities therefore received 2 bags of rice and 2 bags of bean, adding up to 220 bags for all.
The community leaders were charged with the responsibility of sharing since they know who is who in their communities. They were instructed to do the distribution given priorities to the vulnerables of their communities devoid of political consideration.
