Aregbesola Sets to Palliate the Effect of the Stay-At-Home Order Across Osun

There are indications that the erstwhile State of Osun governor and presently the Minister of Interior of Nigeria, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will soon begin the distribution of foods and relief materials in all the senatorial zones of the state as a palliative measure to cushion the effect of the lockdown directive aimed at curbing the spread of the deadly Corona virus, COVID-19 pandemic.

Our correspondent who visited the Amuta compound in Ilesa where the relief materials are stocked, observed that trucks are being loaded for onward transportation to Osogbo (Osun central) and Iwo (Osun West). He also noted that plans have been concluded to ensure that the palliative measures reach people across the state. Food items seen include bags of rice, beans and tubers of yam. Others are cartons of Spaghetti, milk and Lipton tea.

A template of distribution of the materials seen been circulated online has indicated that relief materials are to arrive in all local governments headquarters in the state over this weekend and from there, to be distributed to all the political wards. The categories of beneficiaries also include Obas, baales, chiefs, religious leaders, Iyalojas/Babalojas, motor parks, mini-bus/korope parks, Okada riders park and vulnerable people.

One will recall that the state of Osun government under Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has continue to provide palliatives to the poor, the needy and vulnerable people of the state to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order which was extended for another two weeks after the expiration of the initial 14-day lockdown which began on Tuesday, March 31.
