"Nothing happens in any legislative body that's not purposeful."- Dan Webster
It is exactly one year today that Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye assumed office as the 5th Speaker of Osun State. He hails from Ilesa where he grew up and had his primary and secondary education. His political constituency is therefore the Ilesa East State constiuency comprising of Ilesa East local government and Ilesa North East Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The lawmaker, was the immediate past majority leader of the 6th Assembly and was the Minority Leader in the 4th Assembly.
He represented his constituency between 1999-2002 as a Councilor, Ward 10, of Ilesa East Local Government.
In the words of Thomas Fuller, "charity begins at home, but should not end there." So, the aim of this article is to look at the intervention of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye on the people of his state constituency in the past one year.
"We should be remembered for the things we do. The things we do are the most important things of all. They are more important than what we say or what we look. The things we do outlast our mortality. They're like pyramids that the Egyptians built to honour the Pharaohs. Only instead of being made out od stones, they're made out of memories people have of you."- R. J. Palacio

On Sunday 5th April, 2020, Rt. Hon. Owoeye distributed food items to his constituents, to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home order given by the state government to contain the coronavirus pandemic. The palliatives that included bags of rice, beans and Semolina were distributed to communities of Ilesa East and Ilesa North East Local Councils irrespective of political or religious consideration.
As we celebrate his one year of meritorious service to the people of Osun and the Ilesa people that voted him en masse at the Osun House of Assembly election of March 9, 2019, it is our collective wish at Kakaki Oodua Media Services that God will continue to guard and guide him.
