Osun House of Assembly presiding officer Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has underscored the need for both Governmental and non-governmental investment on sporting activities as a way of promoting healthy living and creation of jobs.
He disclosed this while addressing journalists shortly after the novelty match organized by Ijesa Soccer Ambassadors to mark his 48th birthday.
The Speaker who was part of the 90 minutes encounter had two shots on goal but could not be converted.
In his address, Owoeye appreciated the organizers of the event and all the players and spectators for identifying with him on the occasion of his birthday as he showed his commitment towards the growth and development of Ijesa land.
The football event which took place at Federal Government Technical College Ilesa was a platform for spectators and fans of Honourable Timothy Owoeye to demonstrate their loyal and affinity for the August born lawmaker.
Some of the OSHA lawmakers who were part of the football match included Honourables Gbenga Ogunkanmi, Stephen Akanfe Atidade, Gbenga Ogundipe and Adebayo Olodo.
Honourable Oladipo Adeniyi, Chairman, Ilesa North East LCDA, in a chat with news reporters said Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye is fantastic and a worthy son of Ijesa, this he explained necessitated the Ijesa Soccer Ambassadors to organize the novelty match.
Similarly the President of Ijesa Soccer Ambassadors, Mr. Siji Lagunju also said that Owoeye's lofty contributions to humanity is being written in gold.
The Principal of FGTC, Ilesa, Mrs Idowu also acknowledged the humbleness and humility of the Osun Assembly Speaker as she charged political office holders to borrow from his kind and lofty gestures.
The College administration, presented a locally made water hand-wash dispenser to Honourable Speaker just as Honourable Timothy Owoeye flagged off the workshop buildings for the college.
