The Osun State commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Adebisi Obawale Simeon has said that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's administration is working towards the restoration of Ogedengbe palace also known as the Obanla palace in Ilesa. "The architects have visited the age-long edifice and by next year there will be progress." He said as he presented recommendations to the members of the Iwude Ijesa Festival Planning Committee that visited him in his office at the Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo on Tuesday, 24th November, 2020 .
Receiving the team led by Mr. Wale Idowu, the commissioner recommended that the Planning Committee should aim at helping the government to identify places in and around Ilesa that the government can build tourism around. "The government is willing to know all tourist attractions in Ijesaland which could be developed and turned to tourists destination." Obawale emphasized as he pledged that the administration will give necessary support to ensure the success of this year's celebration.
Mr. Wale Idowu while presenting the program of the 2020 edition of the festival, appreciated the government for the past cooperation and explained how this year's celebration has been influenced by the COVID-19 prevention measures as he assured the government entourage the confidence and safety of their participation.
"The Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II CFR LLD, had confirmed Saturday 19th December, 2020 as Iwude Festival grand finale day and Oba Adekunle Aromolaran Civic Centre shall be the venue instead of the open Obokungbusi Civic Centre and participants are limited to traditional rulers, top political office holders without entourage, Local Government Chairmen, Planning Committee members, representatives of registered Clubs and Societies, invited guests and chiefs." Wale Idowu said.
Other government officials present at the meeting included Dr. Simeon Obawa, Mr. Samuel Adeniyi, Mrs Sola Akinsola, Mrs. F. Fasesin, Mr. Sola Akinyemi,H Adesina Raimi and Mr. Sunday Okunade.
On the entourage were Mr. Wale Idowu, Hon. Femi Kujembola, Mrs. Yemisi Abiodun Ariyibi , Mr Oladimeji Lasore, Mrs. Ogunniyi Oluwabunmi Oluwaranti and Mr. Tobi Omirin.
