Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Plans for RLG Adulawo Technology Company, Ilesa




 



The digital device assemblers, RLG Adulawo Technology Company, Ilesa, Osun State is to receive a lifeline with the intervention of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as the company is being recognized as a local manufacturer and assembler of digital television reception apparatus (Set Top Boxes) under the Backward Integration Programme. 






Thursday, 28th, January, 2021, Engr. Ike Owali Obin and Osben F.O. Momoh, two Industrial Officers from the Industrial Development Department of the Ministry were on a working visit to the facilities of the company.


The indigenous company RLG in partnership with TV Enterprise is currently involved in the production of Terrestrial Broadcast Set Top Boxes (STB) for digital switchover from analogue, has the capability to create employment for about 600 youths at her full operations. 




Mr Razaaque Animasahun, the Chairman of the company who received the Ministry officers disclosed that RLG/TVE in 2015 participated in the subsidized regime of STB and has also gone ahead to assemble close to 100,000 units of STB in anticipation of announcement of resumption of Digital Swicth Over (DSO) by National Broadcasting Corporation. 


Giving a background of what brought about the visit from the Ministry, Mr. Osben Momoh disclosed that a letter came from Association of Set-up Boxes Manufacturers of Nigeria requesting for upward review of tariffs after series of meetings with the representatives of the association the Ministry thought it wise to see how to identify companies that can be producing components locally.






Mr Animasahun explaining about the function of RLG Adulawo Technology company disclosed that the company is involved in Training and Manufacturing.



"RLG Adulawo Technology City started with a Youth Empowerment Programme dubbed "Oyes Tech" under the regime of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola's administration which is the offshoot of one of the most successful youth empowerment programmes in the country referred to as "Oyes". "OyesTech" had already trained 10000 youths in the state on ICT skill to assemble and repair all kinds of digital and communication devices. Today, many of the youths have become their own entrepreneur to make a living. The company is also involved in the development of educational devices for N-power project for the Federal Government apart from manufacturing of phones, laptops, television sets and set-up boxes". He said.






After a tour of the facilities of the company the leader of the team who said he was highly excited with what he saw disclosed that the Ministry will continue to provide all the necessary assistance required to move the company forward and sustain her capability .
