Osun SUBEB Chairman Lauds Foundation for Distributing School Uniforms and Writing Materials to Pupils of 4 Primary Schools in Ilesa East and West





The chairman of Osun state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Engr. Isreal Ajibola Famurewa has disclosed that education is the most important tool that holds the whole nation together and leads the state towards ultimate development for the betterment of humanity.


He also assured that the State of Osun government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is prepared to provide quality and qualified teachers with adequate training needed to effectively help Osun children to learn.




"Shortage of teachers in public primary schools will soon be a thing of the past as efforts are in top gear to recruit one thousand teachers to augment the existing teachers in the state primary schools." Famurewa declared.


He made the declaration on Tuesday 23rd February, 2021 at Obokungbusi City Hall in Ilesa, when Arise and Shine Charity Foundation an American based Non-governmental organization distributed school uniforms and writing materials to pupils of four primary schools of Ilesa East and Ilesa West Local Governments.






The schools are: Holy Trinity Primary School, Omofe, Ilesa, African Church Jubilee Primary School,Ikoyi-Oromu,Ilesa, St.  John’s Primary School 1, Iloro, Ilesa and St. John’s Primary School 2, Iloro, Ilesa.


Engr. Ajibola Famurewa while appreciating the good gesture of the Foundation remarked that not everyone could think like the conveners of the program have thought.


"If we are fortunate to be successful we need to give back to the society. The child today is the leader tomorrow", he said as he appealed to the children beneficiaries not to forget the experience and prepare to reciprocate in future.






The representative of the Foundation in Nigeria, Mrs Folasade Lawal surrounded by some other members of the organization such as Mrs, Yemisi Ariyibi, Mrs. Yemisi Falope, Mrs. Yetunde Fadare, described herself as a product of Mercy. She was the Senior Prefect of St. Margaret's Girls School, Ilesa in 1986/87 and grew up under harsh condition as a hawker in and around the popular Ilesa Atakumosa market, today she is a Chartered Accountant.


Mrs. Lawal used the occasion to appeal to the pupils to make best use of the opportunity and run away from distractions which may shatter their dreams to attain greater heights in future. 


"Education is the best legacy a parent can bestow on his/her child(ren) and an excellent education will serve them better in life than anything else in this world will ever do." She said.


The highpoint of the ceremony was the symbolic presentation of the materials to two students from each of the four schools as the general presentation to all the 1050 selected students shall continue in the schools.

In attendance were Hon. Taiwo Akeju, Osun Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon Rafiu Fatoki and Hon. Ayo Olajolo who are board members of Osun SUBEB, Hon. Akinyele Akíntola, some board members of Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), teachers,parents, representatives of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and some students drawn from the four schools.
