SUBEB Chairman Reiterates Osun Govt. Giant Stride On Provision of Standard Education.... By Sofiu Abdulganiyu

 

The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has reiterated the state government giant stride in providing  standard education for school children  across state

Hon. Famurewa said the present administration, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's huge investment on education sector, has raised the bar of Osun state educational system to an  enviable height ,attracting the attention of other states in Nigeria. 

The SUBEB Boss stated this in his speech during the distribution of  text  books to pupils of public and private  schools  organized by Oke Ila Orangun Education Development Committee at the Town Hall,Oke Ila. 

Hon. Famurewa itemised the  state government  intervention on education sector, which included renovation and construction of standard new classroom buildings with modern facilities,  provision of  furniture, training workshop and seminars for teachers that are  making teaching and learning comfortable and conducive for both teachers and learners across the state. 

The former House Representative lawmaker then commended the donor of the text books,explaining that the laudable gift will help in boosting the morale of the learners and also go a long way to cushion the parents financial constraints in affording textbooks for their wards.

He therefore called on well meaning Nigerians in the society to rise up in complementing the government efforts on education development in the interest of Osun children.

The SUBEB Chairman  implored the pupils at the occasion to face their studies squarely in order to become  important personalities in the future and be useful to themselves , to their parents as well as the society at large.

He also enjoined teachers, parents and learners to make judicious of the textbooks and to handle them with care so that it can be useful for others coming behind them.

In his speech, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Abolarin Omoniyi Adedokun, expressed delight over the performance of the pupils at the event, while calling on philanthropists in the society to rally round government in lifting the standard of  education, advancing that education is the only weapon that can be used to propel positive turn around in any society. The Monarch also implored them to give maximum support to  school children who,according to him, are the future nation builders and leaders. 

Oba Abolarin stressed further that concerted efforts should be made to give support to the education of the downtrodden in the society like he is doing in his domain.

The Royal Father pointed out that that this will help in curbing future social menace and crime among the youths as well as foster  peaceful co-existence  among the people living in the society.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Oke Ila Education Development Committee, Dr Samuel Adedotun appreciated the presence of important dignities at the event while explaining the purpose  of distribution of text books, which is worth 1.7 million naira to both public and private school pupils in their communities.

The text books distributed to school pupils at the event were MacMillan Brilliant Primary English Books, MacMillan New Primary Mathematics Books, Alawiye Atunse Kefa Lati Owo JF Odunjo and Queen Primer for Primary School pupils among others.

In attendance were the Director General, Bureau of Social Services, Hon. Richard Tinubu, the Osun SUBEB, Commissioner Services, Hon Emos Akindiya, SUBEB Board Members and other political functionaries from Osun SUBEB as well as Bureau of Social Services.
