As part of the efforts of the present administration in the state of Osun aimed at providing solid Educational foundation for school children , the state government has approved a Five-Day training Workshop for about four hundred teachers/ Care Givers in the state of Osun.
The training program which has commenced in earnest is taking place concurrently in Iwo, Ilesa, Ifelodun and Osogbo, the state capital.
Organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), it is aimed at achieving a life long learning and full developmental potentials for young children at their tender age.
The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon Israel Ajibola Famurewa in his opening remarks at the opening ceremony said the whole essence of the training is to inculcate and create a friendly environment for children so that they will later become responsible future leaders.
According Hon. Famurewa, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is committed to ensuring qualitative education and conducive learning environment for the children.
The SUBEB boss therefore enjoined the participants particularly the Caregivers at the training workshop to gear up by working hard and be ready to transfer the knowledge acquired during the training program to the pre- primary school children kept under their custody.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, SUBEB, Mr.Adeoye Bakare, eulogized the present administration under the leadership of governor Adegboyega Oyetola and UBEC for the various training workshops.
Mr Adeoye who implored the participants to make proper use of the knowledge acquired during the training, also reiterated the resolve of the Oyetola Administration not to leave any stone unturned in giving the best of education to children in the state .
In his remarks, one of the resource persons, Dr. Joshua Adeleke of the Institute of Education, University of Ibadan thanked the organizers of the workshop for the timeliness of the training workshops.
Dr Adeleke further acknowledged that it is one of the modern methods of impacting knowledge into the pre primary school children.
While also lauding the Administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, the University lecturer did not fail to emphasise that the program is very germane at this crucial time as he pointed out that the Early Care Childhood Development Education (E.C.C.D.E) Program will help the children to develop strong mental capacity at a very tender age through viable teaching and learning activities embedded in the program.
The workshop continues tomorrow in the four centres of Iwo, Ilesha, Ikirun, and Osogbo.
