The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transports in Osun State, Engr. Omowaiye Oluremi in collaboration with Gifty Organic Therapy on Saturday sponsored an Ileri Oluwa Medical and Surgical outreach to celebrate his birthday where 100 patients including children were operated on freely.
Omowaiye who celebrated his birthday on the 9th of July used the opportunity of the occasion to give back to society by sponsoring the surgery of the patients.
The surgeons and medical personnel who numbered about 100 and led by the Osun state Chief Surgeon, Dr. Simeon Afolayan performed the surgeries at the State Hospital, Ilesha where people living with different medical and health challenges such as Herniorrhaphies, Herniotomis, Hydrocelectomies, and various lumps were operated upon free of charge.
In his words, Engr. Omowaiye said he prefers to sponsor the outreach to celebrate his birthday and to show appreciation to God and make an impact on the lives of people who have been living with various health challenges for a long time and who for lack of money could not undergo the surgery on their own.
He said he chooses this way of celebration because he knows it will have an immediate impact on people instead of merry-making with close family and friends alone.
Meanwhile, Prof. Femi Fadiora the former Chief Medical Director of LAUTECH Hospital commended Omowaiye for this great initiative and implore others to emulate him, saying this is a life-impacting project and it will go a long way in the minds of the beneficiaries.
Also, Prof. Olaitan the Chief Medical Director of Osun Teaching Hospital commended the Commissioner on this initiative and implored him to continue doing it annually.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Mutiu Adewole whose son was operated upon appreciated the Commissioner for coming to their aids at this point. He said he was asked to pay N380,000 for the same surgery in a private hospital and when he could not afford it he resulted to fate until help now came from God through the Commissioner. He used the opportunity to pray for him that he will live long in perfect health, that he will not be unfortunate in life.
The Chief Surgeon, Dr. Afolayan used the opportunity to implore people to always pay great attention to their health and make sure they visit the hospital regularly for checks up.
