Aragbiji of Iragbiji Throne is of Ijesa Descent....Iwude Ijesa 2021 Planning Committee Members Make Move to Bring Him Back Home






Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, the Vice Chairman of Iwude Ijesa 2021 Planning Committee has described the throne of Aragbiji of Iragbiji as having Ijesa descent and this is evident whenever the praise poem (oriki) of the Aragbiji is recited. The "oriki" which is generally accepted as Yoruba people's oral tradition and culture has made significant contributions towards the understanding of their past.




He made the remark at the palace of Aragbiji of Iragbiji when he led the 2021 Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee members to invite His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP), Odundun VI, to this year's grand finale annual Iwude Ijesa Festival that will hold on Saturday 18th December. "The festival is a means of promoting unity among all Ijesa descendants at home and in the diaspora". He said.

Explaining further he said that the members of the Committee have a focus on making the festival to create and promote unity among all people of Ijesa descendants and make the festival to promote social interaction among Ijesa people everywhere.




Accepting the invitation, Oba Abdul-Rasheed accentuated the importance of oral traditions in tracing the history of the Yoruba people as this has ceased to be a matter for debate and is generally acknowledged.




Members of the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee on the entourage include Mr. Akin Ajayi-Obe, Ogbeni Oladimeji Lasore, Mrs. Victoria Oluwaseun Adewusi, Mr. Isaac Haastrup, Mr. Benson Adegbola and Mr. Tijani Usman.
