Opportunity was taken this afternoon by the members of the Ijesaland University Project Consultative Committee (UPCC), to appreciate His Excellency, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of Osun State, for giving a no-objection consent to the conversion of the 43 years old Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to University.
The trio of Sawe of Ilesa, Chief Akin Akinola; former Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Folorunso Adewole; and the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi led other members of the UPCC to a press conference held at Heringan Event Hall, Imo, Ilesa on the proposed conversion of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a University, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland in a release expressed with all sense of unequivocal thankfulness the deep heart of appreciation of all Ijesa people to the Governor of the state of Osun; Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola under whose all-inclusive administrative distinctiveness the state is witnessing undeniable transformation for his zest, willingness to listen and support the people of Osun state without any fear or favour.
According to Asiwaju Fasuyi, "Mr. Governor warmly received all the leaders of Ijesaland and with careful attentiveness gave a no-objection consent to the conversion of the 43 years old Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to University. This is indeed an expression of exquisiteness in the echelon of power that ingratiate sustainable development. It wouldn’t also be far from distinction to acknowledge his decision in furthering the expediting process by establishing an Executive Committee that would strategically look into the progressive implementation of the age long desire of all Ijesas in the conversion of the College of Education to a University.
"The entire Ijesas would forever be grateful and history will never forget these colossal efforts of Mr. Governor." He said.
Listing out various tasks to be undertaken by the Ijesa people , erudite scholars and thoroughly-informed Ijesa professionals to ensure seamless implementation of the conversion Asiwaju Fasuyi mentioned the following:
1. The University Law: Ijesa people would need to get this ready to support Osun State House of Assembly in expediting passage in the assembly. This same document would also be required by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the University approval.
2. The University Master Plan: This is fundamentally one of the basic requirements by the NUC for University approval.
3. The University Brief: This document and detail-out on the various academic programs in departments, faculties and facilities, along with the University development plan which is a key requirement by NUC for approval.
4. Financial Support: One of the premises for the State Government willingness to tag along with our proposal is our promise to augment the State's finances to the proposed University with a minimum of N500M.
In a bid to generate the N500m financial assistance for the state government, the bank account designated for receiving donations was made known.

The highpoint of the press conference is the launching of the fundraising for the actualization of the N500m assistance for the state government where more than N53m was realised.
