The Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa has called on influencial members of the public to complement efforts of the government at improving educational infrastructure in the state.
"We are all stakeholders in our old schools and there is the need to give back to the schools in form of assistance to them. We should not leave the schools to government alone. The administration of His Excellency, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Executive governor of the State of Osun is up and doing at improving education generally in the state. It is an onerous task and the government alone cannot do it. We should not leave our old schools to government alone. There is the need at this time to use our connection and influence in the society to assist the government in order to make things better. So, we need support of stakeholders to give back to our schools.' He said at the presentation of 200 chairs and tables donated by members of Odeomu Development Union, USA chapter on Wednesday at Odeomu.
The Osun SUBEB Chairman while reiterating Governor Oyetola administration's commitment to transforming the education sector and putting it on a sure footing said the administration is determined to leave no stone unturned.
"The government is not relenting on his efforts, over 10,000 chairs and tables were provided to our schools in the last school session and more shall be provided this session. Presently, about 120 schools across the state are being renovated or rebuilt, St. David's Anglican Primary School, Odeomu was recently approved for complete renovation with a sum of N32m by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and to ensure that teachers are abreast of teaching techniques, the administration is constantly involved in the training and retraining of the teachers." Famurewa said.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi, Special Adviser on Education to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assured the gathering that the efforts of the present administration to recruit additional teachers has reached it's final stage as successful applicants will be announced before 10th of November, 2021.
In his remarks, Chief Gbade Akinwumi, Chairman Alayegun Council of Chiefs demanded the attention of the government on the Cooperative College located Ãn Odeomu.
Dignitaries at the occasion included the Alayegun of Odeomu, Oba James Bolarinwa Alani Oladipupo, Mr. Akin Olaniyi, National President, Odeomu Development Union, Pastor Adeniyi Adesina President IDU, USA, representatives of Conference of Principals, board members of Ayedaade Local Education Board and students.
