ICPC Visits Osun SUBEB.... Famurewa, SUBEB Boss Implores Nigerians to shun corruption




 



Nigerians have been implored to shun  greed and ostentatious living in order to stop sending  wrong signals to the  youths at the expense of other core values that are developmental for the growth and development of Nigeria.





The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa made this known while receiving the officials of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC , Abuja, at the state  SUBEB headquarters,  Osogbo.


Hon. Famurewa while applauding the series of efforts being put in place by ICPC and other anti corruption  Agencies of the Federal Government to fight corruption  also  admonished on the need for all Nigerians at home and diaspora to deemphasize the craze to get wealth at all cost syndrome which has done Nigeria more harm than good. 




The SUBEB Chairman who expressed delight for the visit of the ICPC officials to Osun, described the administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola of having a zero tolerance for corruption in all its entirety. 


Famurewa particularly bemoaned and condemned  the rate at which the Nigerian youths  are always  in a rat race to  amass wealth through crude means like internet frauds and other untoward acts ,which according to him cast aspersions on the corporate image of the country.

  

The SUBEB Chairman who also praised  President Muhammadu Buharis  war against graft in Nigeria, enjoined parents and guardians to always   demonstrate virtues that are worthy of emulation by the youths. 




Also speaking, Commissioner for  Services , Osun SUBEB, Hon. Amos Akindiya, appreciated the team of ICPC officials to Osun led  by Mr Muhammad Ashir Baba, who had earlier delivered a thought provoking " mini lecture" for the Osun SUBEB officials  .Hon. Akindiya stressed that the lecture though brief, will no doubt   go a long way in helping teachers to start teaching and  inculcating the act of discipline in school children especially at the basic levels .


Akindiya recalled  that a country that can boast of a well disciplined and vibrant youths would automatically  have everything going smoothly for it as a nation.


He expressed strong optimism on the present and  future generations  of the  Nigerian youths if necessary modalities are put in place for them to emulate.



Earlier In his welcome address , the Executive Secretary, SUBEB , Mr Adeoye Bakare thanked the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission Officials for their visit to Osun SUBEB, with an assurance that Osun SUBEB is ever ready to promote the laudable visions and missions of  the Commission especially in ensuring that schools are churning out good students that will tomorrow be the pride and glory of the Nigerian federation.



      

Earlier in a  paper, titled National Value Curriculum delivered by the ICPC team leader to Osun, Mr Muhammad Ashir Baba, he  highlighted the importance of  instilling sound moral values in the youths to  facilitate what he succinctly described as "raising the  generation of morally upright Nigerian youths that will in the long run make Nigeria and Nigerians the best anywhere in the world."
