His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa has called on the members of Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee to create a perfect window of opportunity to engage diasporas as active partners aimed at engaging them for development and benefit of their various home communities.
Elerinmo made this remark on Tuesday when the members of the committee visited him to acquaint him with the programs of events and preparation already put in place to make this year's edition of the annual Ijesa festival of unity a remarkable one.
"I am always very delighted to know that our sons and daughters in the diaspora are always very eager to come home and participate, this should not end there since they (diasporas) have the potential to make many contributions." He said.
Speaking further Oba Michael Ajayi solicited for strategies to which diasporas can contribute and the role of diaspora-driven initiatives while eulogizing the activities of the planning committee members. He implored them to maximize the coming together of Ijesa sons and daughters annually for the festival in such a way that it will have impact on the development of Ijesa communities.
The Committee members led by the Vice Chairman, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola were as well received by some of the chiefs.
The highlight of the visit also included the presentation of locally made mat which the Erinmo-Ijesa women are known for. The Committee members also danced to the local music rendered by the women.
