OYETOLA FOUNDATION ADMITS FORMER O'YES CADETS INTO FOLD, HARPS ON CONTINUITY OF PROGRESSIVE GOVERNMENT IN OSUN STATE

The only antidote to the sustainance of the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (O'YES) is for the party that initiated the program, the All Progressives Congress to remain in power beyond November 2022 in Osun State.

This was the conclusion and stand of the State Coordinator of the scheme Col. Oyewole EniIbukun (Rtrd) and other stakeholders at an event where former O'YES cadets from Osun Central were officially admitted into the fold of Gboyega Oyetola Foundation in Osogbo.

According to the retired Colonel who put the population of the current and past O'YES cadets at 65,000, "if just 60,000 out of the population is committed to showing appreciation to the progressive government for giving them reasons to smile during the time of their service to the state by attracting five politically passive constituents hitherto unexploited to the APC side, a total of three hundred thousand votes is assured for the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola into office." Col. EniIbukun who made reference to the recently conducted Governorship Election in Anambra State berated the situation whereby less than 10% of the registered voters determined the outcome of the election. He canvassed the need to change the narrative in Osun next July with the assistance of the O'YES cadets in favor of the Progressives.

While encouraging the O'YES cadets on the need to carry out the assignment with every seriousness and commitment to Progressives ideals, the retired military Officer hinted that the O'YES cadets have evolved over the years and have grown to an enviable level where they are capable of having a strong voice in the political calculations in the state with their potential which is their population.

Speaking on why the Gboyega Oyetola Foundation has identified O'YES as a very important partner in its well laid out programs, the President of the Foundation said while O'YES is for empowerment and service, the foundation is for development, hence the collaboration is no doubt alike in nature. He assured the cadets of the readiness of the Foundation to support them all the way to achieve the vision.

Also in his short address at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Foundation said going by the slim victory recorded in the 2018 Governorship Election, the idea is a resolve to effectively reach out to the non voting youth population across the state, with a view to mobilising a minimum of five hundred thousand additional votes to complement APC efforts during the 2022 Governorship Election in Osun State.

According to him, the intervention efforts is to work strategically with youth enclaves, slum communities, developing sites and politically passive constituents hitherto unexploited and tainted with political apathy towards mobilising them for the election, increase the popularity index of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a performer and a listening consensus builder and enlist youths across all voting sectors within the state for active political participation.

Over 150 former cadets who represented the entire group in Osun Central attended the parley, they were former Mentors, Prefects, Deputy Prefects, Provosts, Group Leaders and Unit Leaders. They all expressed strong assurance of service delivery. The engagement continues on Friday 3rd of December, 2021.
