The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill for an act to provide the legal framework for the upgrade and conversion of Wesley Guild Hospital Ilesa, to a Federal Medical Center in Osun State.
Leading the debate on its general principles, the sponsor of the Legislation Hon. Lawrence Ayeni representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, asserted that the Hospital has developed and grown to an enviable state, ministering to the health needs of Nigerians near and far with high quality preventive and curative healthcare services, and research.

While stating that the annual patients turnover has grown steadily over the years, he added that the performance will be increased if the hospital is upgraded and converted to a status of Self-administration as this will reduce bottlenecks to progress.
In his ruling, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Wase referred the Bill to Committee on Health Services for further Legislative Actions.
