Lions Clubs International Multiple District 404, Nigeria has performed a comprehensive eye Care development outreach in Ilesa, Osun State.
Saturday, 23rd April, 2022, many people, families with vision impairment and blindness of various degrees thronged the Obokungbusi, Civic Centre, Ilesa to partake in the unique and impactful free eye Care services.
Lions are known throughout the world for their work to improve the lives of the visually impaired and prevent avoidable blindness.

Recall that, on Thursday, 16th December 2021 His Excellency, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, commissioned the Lions Eye Centre, a joint project between the state government and the Lions Clubs International Foundation, the charity arm of Lions Clubs International to the tune of US$542,142 for for years intervention.
Speaking with our correspondent, the Chairperson, Lions Club Comprehensive Eye Care Development Project in Osun State and a past Council Chairperson, Lion Kola Oyekanmi said registered individuals with various eye defect conditions are to be screened, those that required spectacles will be given freely, medication are provided for those that required, while those with complicated cases will be referred to Asubiaro for surgery at 50% reduction of the normal charges.
At the Ilesa Lions Clubs Comprehensive Eye Care Outreach, a total: 282 patients were attended to, with 174 requiring corrective glasses leading 174, those with medical management at 71 and 37 beneficiaries were referred to Asubiaro for surgery.
Present at the outreach were Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, Speaker Osun House of Assembly, Leader Kunle Odeyemi, Chairman, Osun State College of Education Governing Board, Lion Ajibola Famurewa and Lion Dosu Gidigbi among others.
