Rotary Club of Ilesa Metropolitan, District 9125 Nigeria recently installed Rotarian Olu Olujide as its 7th President to direct its affairs 2022/2023.
Rotarian Olujide received the baton of leadership at a glamorous event that took place at the Damol Event and Conference Centre, Oke Omiru, Ilesa on Saturday, 13th August, 2022.
The club also used the event to induct its Board members and as well as present awards to deserving individuals and associations.
It further used the opportunity to showcase its activities and raise funds for the execution of various projects it has lined up for the Rotary year.
In his speech, the new president, appreciated all the past presidents and members of the Club for their commitments to the success of the Club.
"Continuity is the backbone of any successful organization. I am a SYNERGY PRESIDENT, my administration shall work with relevant stakeholders, strengthen and practice inclusive governance of which it is my belief that everyone is important to contribute to the success of this Club." He said.
Speaking further he elaborated on what he set to achieve with relevant Ijesa stakeholders. These include: providing basic education support for 500 most vulnerable pupils which are to be identified from Ilase-Ijesa, Esa-Oke, Iwoye-Ijesa, Ipole-Ijesa, Isaobi-Ijesa, Erinmo-Ijesa, Ipole-Ijesa, Imobi-Ijesa, Akola-Ijesa and Ilaa-Ijesa.
He also mentioned that his administration will provide economic empowerment support for 50 vulnerable women to be selected from Erinmo-Ijesa, Ipole-Ijesa, Ilase-Ijesa and Ilesa and enroll 10 youths for apprenticeship and support them with basic tools and equipment. Build the capacity of 300 youths in leadership and entrepreneurship. Youth will be selected from secondary schools in Ilesa, Ijebu-jesa, Ilase, Imobi/Iwara and Iperindo/Odo-Ijesa. Establish interact Club at Methodist High School, Ilesa. This will be done in collaboration with the Old students association of the school.
Rotarian Olujide during his installation expressed his expectation to provide malaria testing and treatment for 10,000 under five years old children, pregnant women and other most at risk populations in collaboration with stakeholders and primary health care facilities located at these selected towns; Omo-Ijesa, Ilase-Ijesa, Esa-Oke, Iwoye-Ijesa, Erinmo-Ijesa, Ipole-Ijesa, Isaobi-Ijesa, Osu, Akola-Ijesa and Ilaa-Ijesa and to educate members of Ijesa community on electoral violence prevention with emphasis on the 2022 Osun Governorship Election and 2023 General Elections.
Also, the new president has it in his intention to also provide HIV Counseling and Testing for 5000 most at risk populations which are to be identified from Ilesa, Ijebu-jesa, Ibokun, Ibodi, Ipetu-Ijesa, and Esa -Oke, provide borehole water for Ipole-Ijesa town and carry out sanitation at Ilesa and plant trees at Ijebu-jesa to support the environment.
Investiture lecture titled "Imagine A New Ijesaland: The need to adopt sustainable development strategy" was delivered by Rotrn Lateef Akande Bakare.
The Alase of Ilase-Ijesa Oba Isiaka Adesina was the Royal Father of the occasion, Chief Akin Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa was the Father of the Day and Chief Mrs. Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo was the Mother of the Day.
The investiture ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to several club members. Other awards presented included the Rotary International Distinguished Personalities Awards presented to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa, Chief Mrs. Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo, Chief Mrs. Yemisi Ariyibi and Prof. Isaac Adewole. Alhaj Lateef Bakare, Mr. Olasupo Shadiya, AIG Bola Longe (Rtd), Mr. Usman Tijani, Rotrn. Dr. Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe.
Other category of awardees included Rotary International Lifetime Achievements Awards to PDG (Chief) Akin Akinola, PDG (Prof.) Olurotimi Tayo, PDG (Prof.) Adedolapo Lufadeju and (PDG) Oba Adedoyin Adelekun.
