On The Planning of the 2022 Edition of Iwude Ijesa Festival.... Planning committee intensifies on stakehoders' consulation

Iwude Ijesa 2022 planning committee continues consultations with the royal stakeholders to ensure success of the annual festival of unity, as chief Afolabi Igbaroola led- members paid a courtesy visit to more  traditional rulers ín Ijesaland.


The traditional rulers, Onimuroko of Muroko, Oba Oluwagbega Omole, the Olowada of Owada, Oba Basiru Onigbogi,, the Ado- Ọkọ̀ of Ìdí-oko, Oba Michael Adedeji, Olususi of Ilususi, Oba Ademilola Atayero and Akinsin of I ìṣà Ijesa, Oba Adetona Akinokun who converged on the palace of the olumuroko to receive the August visitors lauded the committee for taking the cultural festival that bond Ijesaland together to an  advanced level.


The Olumuroko, Oba Omole  said the Iwude has assumed a new dimension and urged the committee to nurture it to grow to the world standard for  global acceptance as UNESCO’s world cultural heritage.



“You need to harness the potentials of the crowns and beads across Ijesaland, organize a forum where they will have a tête-à-tête with our father, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland prior to the grand finale of the one- week event scheduled for 24th of December at the Obokungbusi, Ereja palace Square for a all round success, surpassing the feats recorded previously “, he said.


He thanked the contingents for fostering unity via there strategic courtesy visits to the custodians of traditions across the length and breadth of the land.


In a remark, the Olowada of Owada, Oba Basiru Onigbogi, who prayed for the sustenance of the existing peaceful interrelationship among the traditional rulers which according to him is the brainchild of the Iwude committee, emphasized that similar gesture should be extended to other traditional councils in Ijesaland to further entrench their sense of belonging.


“ As I leave this place, I will be heading to Atakumosa East Local Government Area for the monthly traditional council meeting of the local government and I promise to convey your message to them. Though roads to our domains are bad, I will suggest to them to converge on a place to have a replica of this gathering “ Olowada promised.


Contributing, the Ado- oko of Ido-oko, Oba Michael Adedeji expressed satisfaction with the drive of the committee, stressing that Iwude Ijesa had come of age.


The Ado- Oko noted that since he has been attending the Iwude Ijesa in 2019, each year’s event has been an improvement on the previous edition, urging the committee to maintain the tempo.


Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the planning committee, chief Afolabi Igbaroola has hinted the traditional rulers of the level of progress at the Iwude Ijesa permanent Secretariat situated within the palace Square.


Chief Igbaroola said the multimillion naira  ultramodern project which is nearing completion will be used to entertain them, the kings.


Joining the traditional rulers to receive the committee members were the Bobajiro of Muroko Ijesa, chief Oyewumi Oyedele and the Loriomo of Muroko chief Azeez Abass.


On the entourage of the vice chairman, were Hon. Akintola Akinyele, Hon Benson Olaoluwa, Hon. Oladimeji Lasore, chief Adesoji Fasipe, Prince Isaac Haastrup, Mrs Bunmi Ogunbiyi and Tóbi Omirin.
