Plans to Dissolve Osun Local Government hit brickwall ... As APC Files Motion For Stay of Execution At Appeal Court

The plans of the Osun State Government to dissolve the local government administration in Osun State and dislodge elected officials in the councils have suffered a terrible setback as the All Progressives Congress and the affected council chairmen elected on the platform of APC have approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, for an order to stay execution of the judgement of Justice Nathaniel-Ojo Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo delivered on November 25, 2022, nullifying the elections conducted into the local councils by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission ( OSSIEC).

Recall the Appellants had initially, on November 25, 2022, filed a Notice of Appeal against the judgement of the Osogbo Court, the same day they applied for a Stay of Execution at the Federal High Court, Osogbo following Justice Emmanuel's judgement.

But today, the APC's Motion for a Stay of Execution at the Osogbo court, which was heard yesterday December 5, was dismissed, an action that spurred the Appellants to file a swift Stay of Execution at the appelate court in Akure.

With this application, the elected council chairmen and councillors remain in office pending the hearing and decision of the Akure court on the matter.

All respondents in the case have been duly served the notice and are expected to comply forthwith. The Osun State House of Assembly have been notified.
