Following the angry resignation of two illustrious indigenes of Ijesaland; Mr Rasheed Sarumi (SAN) and Sawe of Ijesaland, High Chief Akinwande Akinola from their position as members of the Governing Council of the University of Ilesa, stating the politics being played by the incumbent governor of the Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, as their reason, a call has gone out to the Ijesa people to vote APC in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections on Saturday as the only hope of realising their dream of having a university.
The chairman, Board of Trustee (BOT), Ijesa People in Diaspora Foundation (IPID-F), Chief Akinyemi Olusegun Fasakin, made this call while reacting to the failure of the Ilesa university to take off as scheduled, adding that the university was killed by unnecessary politics and incompetency of the Adeleke administration
According to him, "despite the efforts of well meaning Ijesa people who had raised resources to the tune of N2bn for the takeoff of the university, it is sad the the Adeleke government frustrated the take off and it is obvious that a vote for APC is the only hope for the takeoff of the university. I call on the people of Ijesaland to come out enmasse and vote for the candidates of APC in the forthcoming house of Assembly election."
The ijesa leader said he fails to understand why the university did not take off despite the fact that there was detailed report of sustainability plan and all required approvals granted to the university, reiterating that "just like the senior Adeleke did with the Ijesa water project, the junior Adeleke has started same thing with the Ilesa University.
"The sad thing again is that PDP has returned thuggery into the land. About 15 people were killed in the last one week. I urge the people of Ilesa and environs not to be afraid of performing their civic duty because security would be provided and APC candidates should be voted because that is the only way the university of Ilesa can be restored. A vote for APC will restore our Ilesa university.
"Also, the president-elect should know that the Ijesa people love him and would have voted for him if not for the insecurity challenge on the day of election. That he wasn't declared winner in Ijesaland is not our doing because we are not bastards and would have voted for the president- elect.
We congratulate him and wish him the best while we urge him to do the best for our nation," he added.
