Several persons have been rendered homeless after a heavy downpour destroyed more than 100 buildings in Ere-Ijesa, Oriade local government of Osun state, on Saturday March 4. The downpour also destroyed some electricity facilities across the town, thereby subjecting the residents to a total blackout. The community's motorized borehole the only source of portable water and the community's power station were destroyed.

While on a visit to the affected community on Monday, March 6, kakakioodua correspondent met the traditional ruler of the town, HRM Oba Augustine Adenipekun Alowolodu , Elere of Ere-Ijesa and his chiefs in meeting where the devastating effect of the storm was being assessed.
Kakaki Oodua correspondent was later conducted round the affected areas by Chief Adepeju Johnson Adekunle, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ere-Ijesa and Prince Anthony Adewusi Alowolodu.
The rainstorm accompanied by heavy wind, completely destroyed the auditorium belonging to the United Baptist Church.
Rooftops blown away
Elsewhere in the town rooftops of many buildings were blown away while Properties roofing sheets, kitchen utensils, foams, household materials, electrical poles and appliances littered everywhere.
