Traditional Installation of the new Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa (Exclusive Footage...Video clips and photographs)






The agelong rich cultural Ijesa people's tradition and values were recently displayed at the traditional installation of the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa. Kakakioodua Online News correspondent reports from inside the ancient Okemese palace in Ilesa, Osun state and brings you pictures and video clips with eyewitness story..


Oba Oyebade Samson Kehinde Oyeleye  from of the Ajibiowu-Ajiokun Ruling House of Ipole-Ijesa in Atakumosa East local government area of Osun State was on Saturday installed as the new Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa.


It came a day after he received his letter of appointment as approved by His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, governor of Osun state with effect from Thursday 30th March, 2023 in accordance with Section 20, Subsection (1) of the Chiefs Law (Cap. 25), laws of Osun state 2022.

The stool became vacant at the demise of late Oba S. A. Popoola in 2021.

Chief Saka Fapounda,  Ogboni of Ilesa, Oba Festus Awogboro, the Ogboni of Ibokun, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, Ogboni of Ijebujesa and High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi, Oba-odo of Ilesa




The traditional enthronement took place inside the ancient Okemese palace of Owa Obokun Adimula Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran. Assisted by the palace attendants, the traditional installation ceremony was conducted by Chief Saka Fapounda,  Ogboni of Ilesa, Oba Festus Awogboro, the Ogboni of Ibokun, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, Ogboni of Ijebujesa and High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi, Oba-odo of Ilesa all being the top hierarchy of the  Owa in Council who took turn to pray for his success on the throne and advice him.

The Ogboni of Ipole, thereafter,  proceeded to Ipebi where he is expected to be in seclusion for seven days.

The event was witnessed by chiefs and traditional rulers in Ijesaland as well as citizens of Ipole-Ijesa, family and friends of Oba Oyeleye.
