3 Clerics, 1 Other Killed In Ekiti Auto Crash






Four persons, including three clergymen have reportedly died in a auto crash in Ekiti state.


The accident, it was gathered, occurred Monday afternoon along Otun–Iro Ekiti road in Moba Local Government Area of the State.


Five other person were said to have sustained serious injuries in the road crash.


Sources told journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital that the deceased and others were travelling from Ipere-Ekiti to Iro-Ekiti when their vehicle somersaulted and they died on the spot.


Those who sustained varying degrees of injuries have been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti for medical attention while corpses of the the victims have been deposited in the morgue.



One of the late clerics who was transferred from a church in Ipere Ekiti, was being accompanied by his colleague  his new station in Iro-Ekiti, when they met their untimely death.

 


The two other clerics were said to be presiding  over churches in  Eda Oniyo and Ewu Ekiti.


A woman, who is a relative of the  late  transferred Reverend  was said to have also lost her live  in the accident.


When contacted, the Ekiti State Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident.


Abutu said, “We got the information, our men from the traffic section were deployed to the axis.


“The body of the deceased were recovered and moved to hospital where they were confirmed dead.


“We are monitoring the situation. Investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the accident”.
