Exitement! : Nigerians jubilate over Tinubu's suspension of CBN Governor Emefiele

Nigerians are jubilating over the suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele by President Bola Tinubu.

The president ordered Emefiele’s suspension on Friday evening sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.

Reacting to Emefiele’s suspension, Nigerians took to Twitter to hail the president for doing a good job.

According to Ikpe Nyong, “One decision Mr President has made so far and all Nigerians are happy and excited about it, kudos Mr President on this. That guy acted on impunity and made poor financial decisions that ruined Nigeria’s economy and further deepen our inflation level. He should be arrested too.”

Austne said “I know Emefiele will be suspended or sack by Tinubu government…this is just the beginning…hmmmm Escobar the president.”

PortHarcourt Sailor wrote: “This suspension is long overdue. He thinks he can leave Tinubu stranded during the election period.

King Kuro Okorowanta added: “Quick win from the presidency, they are trying to divert public attention from the main issues in Nigeria, fuel subsidy removal, hardship, pains and insecurity. We all know Godwin Emefiele will be removed anyways. Same old system.”

“Although I didn’t support BAT during the election, but it seems we are beginning to see what we have been lacking in the governance of the country for the past 8 years. Someone is clearly in charge and aware of happenings in the country. I hope the tempo is sustained,” Imortal wrote.

Nnamdi said: “The deputy and all in the top group in CBN should also be suspended …… They are all evil.”

Obi stated: “Buhari, Dangote and the cabal used and abandoned him. He’ll learn a big lesson after he completes his jail term.”

Kenneth Samuel added: “He doesn’t deserved suspension, rather sacked and jail.”

Jasper Ume stated: “Emefiele must give account details of his job the naira swap brouhaha printing of phantom new currencies conundrum cashless policy that failed to see light of the day. He must clear himself or to jail straight. As deterrent to others. Nigeria is not banana republic we need sanity.”

“It’s long overdue, he inflicted pains on innocent Nigerians. Please where are the new notes he printed? He wasted taxpayers money on unsuccessful adventure and experiments with several of his policies like anchor borrower and Naira swap,” Engr Tayo said.
