The final rites to the throne of Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State began on the 1st of April, for Oba Oyebade Samson Kehinde Oyeleye with the 125 days mandatory seclusion for the new monarch which is compulsory for any monarch ascending the throne of the ancient town.
KAKAKIOODUA had reportedly that Oba Oyebade received his letter of appointment as approved by His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, governor of Osun state with effect from Thursday 30th March, 2023 in accordance with Section 20, Subsection (1) of the Chiefs Law (Cap. 25), laws of Osun state 2022.
The traditional installation of the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa subsequently took place inside the ancient Okemese palace in Ilesa, on the 1st of April, from there he danced his way into a 125-day seclusion in Ipole-Ijesa.
During the period of seclusion, representatives from Ijesaland traditional ruling councils, High Chiefs, Atakumosa East Council of Obas have been visiting him to tell the history, dos and donts of their quarters and the town from different angles.
This period is guiding him in the conduct at the palace and as well set the records straight in tackling issues that may arise while on the stool. Suffice to say that Oba Oyebade has been attending to his community's (immediate and extended) issues and resolving conflicts amicably.
Recently, at the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa's 80 days in seclusion, the Owa Obokun in Council (Agba Ijesa), consisting of High Chief Oluwagbenga Fadunsin Igbaroola, the Arapate of Ilesa, High Chief Bisoye Onigbogi, the Leejofi of Ilesa, High Chief Gbadamosi James, the Oba-Odo of Ilesa, High Chief Folorunso Salami, the Loro of Ilesa, High Chief Omoniyi Ogunyemi, the Lejoka of Ilesa and High Chief Adebola Orolugbagbe, the Odole of Ilesa, were all in Ipole-Ijesa on a traditional visit.
The 125 days seclusion would be rounded up with the final “Iwuye” (coronation), during which the new monarch would be ushered into Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa's palace.
Oba Oyebade called on those who ran the race with him to sheathe their swords and join hands to move the Ipole-Ijesa forward in the path of peace, progress and prosperity.
“Since there can be no development without peace, my priority and watchword will be peace and unity. He said from his royal seat in seclusion
