Estate consultant and land developer, Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye, has debunked the allegation that he orchestrated attack on residents of Kara, Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Ogun State, describing it as false and preposterous.

Reacting to a recent video on the internet where some women were claimed Owoeye and his boys invaded their village, killing three people and rendered many homeless, he said in a statement: “There is no iota of truth in that report but mere misrepresentation of facts calculated to tarnish my image by mischief makers.

“None of my workers was in Kara the day the incident took place. I will not take something that does not belong to me. I am a law-abiding citizen. I appeal to the people of Ogun State and others to know that the allegations were untrue.

“I want to assure Governor Dapo Abiodun and the law enforcement agencies that I am not in any way involved in that incident. I was not hired to invade any community with firearms, or deprived anybody of access to their farmland.

“I commiserate with the family of the deceased. The news came as a rude shock and, at the same time, disappointing that people can accuse me of unleashing terror on the people of Kara. I have no business or land in the area where the incident happened. Hence, there is no reason for my boys or myself to be in the area, not to talk of unleashing terror on the residents.

“I call on the state Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book because nobody is above the law.”

A community leader in Kara, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that the clash involved Aiye and Eiye members, adding that it disrupted the peace of the community, resulting in gruesome killing and destruction of property.

He said: “Cult wars in the area and surrounding communities have been overwhelming over the years despite police effort to quell their violent activities.”
