CULTISTS KILL POLICE INSPECTOR IN FRONT OF POLICE QUARTERS

A 38-year-old police inspector attached to Zone 2, Police Command, Onikan Lagos, was killed by rampaging cultists in the Ijanikin community and its surroundings.

The officer, Sunday Apochi, a father of three from Benue state, was murdered over the weekend around 8 pm in front of police quarters, Alasia, Ijanikin, Lagos.

Eyewitnesses reported that the notorious Aye confraternity members attacked him with an axe and then shot him in the head.

The incident caused fear in the community, with shops being closed for fear of police intervention. A concerned landlord in the Alasia community called on the Commissioner of Police to address the increasing activities of cultists in the area.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that one suspect has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
