The Doyen of Accounting Pa Akintola Williams is dead.
He reportedly died at 9 am on Monday.
He is the first Nigerian to qualify as a chartered accountant.
Born in 1919, he studied accounting at the University of London and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1947. He returned to Nigeria and later set up his accounting firm, Akintola Williams & Co., now Deloitte & Touche, in 1952.
Williams participated in founding of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
