PHOTOS: Taiwo Odukoya buried in Lagos

Taiwo Odukoya, the founder of Fountain of Life Church, has been laid to rest in Lagos.

Odukoya passed away on August 7 in the United States at the age of 67. The cause of his death is yet to be known.

The burial rites began on Friday with a service of songs at the church’s headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos.

On Saturday, the funeral service was held at the same venue, witnessing a large crowd in attendance.

The ceremony, which started around 11 am, was graced by notable personalities including Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of former vice president of Nigeria.

Stephen Adegbite, Sam Adeyemi, and Paul Adefarasin were among the clergymen who attended the burial ceremony.

After the church event, Odukoya’s body was laid to rest at the Ikoyi cemetery.

He was said to have been buried next to Bimbo, his first wife.

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (New King James Version),” the church wrote on social media.

“We’ll miss Pastor Taiwo, but we rest assured that he has finished his race, and is now in a better place”.

Odukoya’s death came less than two years after he lost Nomthi, his wife.

Nomthi, a South African, died on November 9, 2021, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Odukoya’s second marriage to Nomthi lasted 11 years, and was blessed with two boys.

Before Nomthi, Odukoya was married to Bimbo for 21 years.

She died in the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital.

Bimbo, who was also a pastor at Fountain of Life Church, was mostly known for pioneering the ‘Single and Married’ — a ministry that has been widely acclaimed for preparing youths and couples for fulfilling and lasting relationships.

In December 2021, Odukoya also lost his twin sister, Kehinde Hassan, from cancer complications.
