Ogbomoso Consultative Council decorates Soun as grand patron, unveils blueprint






The Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Afolabi Olaoye, has disclosed that his vision is to create an enabling environment for Ogbomoso that would attract huge, modern and sustainable development in an even manner.


He noted that his focus is to create new opportunities for investment through the deployment of technology, knowledge and skills.


In addition, Oba Olaoye said he was poised to strengthen areas of comparative advantage by investing to develop key value chains in human and natural resources.




Oba Olaoye made this known when the Ogbomoso Consultative Council (OCC) invested him as its grand patron.


Oba Olaoye, particularly, commended the OCC for its resolve to develop a software to compile the database of Ogbomoso sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora.


He promised further consultations with the OCC with a view to exchanging ideas and injecting policy options and new areas of concentration into its operations and strategies. 


The OCC, during the decoration of the monarch at his palace on Tuesday, said Oba Olaoye was expected to boost the overall interest and wellbeing of the people of Ogbomoso.


Oba Olaoye praised the late Soun, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, for the OCC which he said was in line with his blueprint.


Speaking on behalf of the council, Ambassador Akin Oyateru curried the support of the Soun for the Ogbomosoland Development Programme Agenda.


Giving a sneak peek into the agenda, Oyateru said the council is keen to transform Ogbomoso into a choice destination for those who desire good life and prosperity in a conducive environment.


He also urged the Soun to key into the need for economic regeneration through massive investment in industrialization, value addition of natural resources, technical training and skills acquisition, empowerment of critical sections of society, re-inculcation of social values, enhancement of dignity of labour, promotion of peaceful coexistence and harmony. 



Oyateru said the OCC looked forward to Ogbomoso becoming  that bright and shining star that beckons alluringly to all those who seek honest gain through sweat and industry.


He also charged the Soun to ensure the promotion of the interests of sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland both at home and the diaspora and galvanize positions of all sociocultural groups of Ogbomosland at state, regional and national discourses.


Some of the members of the OCC who came to honour the Soun were Dr Saka Balogun, General Oladayo Popoola (retd), Senator Braimoh Yusuf, Engineer Dayo Lawal, AIG Olasupo Ajani (retd), Mr Jacob Adigun, Mr Sunday Dare, Mr Bayo Bankole, Honourable Simeon Oyeleke, Alice Jekayinfa, Otunba Funso Lawal, Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Senator Ayoade Adeseun, Honourable Bimbo Oladeji, Professor Adesola Adepoju, Alhaji Oladipupo Yusuf, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin.
