The grand finale of the 45th edition of lyo-Osu Day Celebration commemorated annually since 1978 by almost all of Osu town indigenes of Atakumosa West Local Government, Osun state has come and gone this Saturday, 11th November, 2023 but the pomp and thrills associated with this year's experience will last for a long time in the minds of the attendees.

The celebration which was instituted to mark and document the great history of the founding of Osu town is also to serve as a rallying point for all Osu indigenes in their bid to attract development into the town.
The week-long celebration which has also gone a long way in re-awakening the awareness of Osu indigenes to the protection and sustenance of their cultural heritage, promotion of unity and using the occasion of the coming together of Osu sons and daughters at home and abroad to brain storm and fashion out projects that can bring about their community's development, thus, this year's celebration also witnessed the launching of a 100 million Naira development appeal fund.
Earlier, KAKAKIOODUA joined HRM Oba Jethro Adegoke Adejola, Aderintola II the Olosu of Osu and his entire chiefs at the Olosu palace before heading to the Atakumosa High School, Osu playground where invited guests, Government officials and most importantly were the leaders and representatives of various settlements that historically merged to form a single geographical unit in the 2nd half of the 19th Century since then, those various settlements that came together to form Osu are today important streets or quarters of the town.
At the celebration, each street or quarter's representatives were led by their loriomo to pay to homage to the Olosu and make donations into 100 million Naira development appeal fund.

Afterwards, the Olosu supported by the Olosu in council offered prayers for peace in the land, for a better and bountiful harvest for farmers while blessing a bowl of salt which played such a prominent role in the founding of Osu and has since then become their symbol of unity.
Thereafter, the salt was shared as everyone partook in the merriment that accompanied the celebration
Highlights of the 45th anniversary of the celebration of the Odun Iyo-Osu day also included changing of baton of leadership of the Osu Community Development Council (OCDC) as New executive members headed by Prince Olubusiyi Arimoro were sworn in a parade by the students of the Police Children School located in Osu.
Addressing crowd at the festival, Prince Arimoro OCDC new National President, while commending commending the immediate past President, Very Revd Dr. Abiodun Ogunbeku for his commitment and dedication to Osu Project in the last six years. "His contact, sacrifice, diligence and endurance had contributed in no small measure towards recording the achievement we have been celebrating."
"The immediate action after the takeover will be the strategic road map meeting of the EXCO where we shall do the SWOT analysis of Osu Community and situate our intervention within the critical areas of deliverable as the outgoing Executive had done. We would pick strategic matters for the quick response to the socio-economic situation of the community. " Arimoro remarked
Dignitaries present at the celebration included, Alhaja Aminat Bepo, the Chairlady of the occasion, Hon. L. B. Ayeni, former member of House of Representatives, Hon. Barr. Dosu Babatunde, Osun Commissionner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dada Ajibola Feyisayo, Chairman Atakumosa West Local Government, Hon. Sanmi Areoye, member Osun House of Assembly, members Ijesa Sports Club to mention just a few.
