Culture they say is the arts, humanities, intellectual achievements, intellectual activity, literature, music, cuisine, philosophy, ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society.
So, On Friday the 22nd December 2023, at the Oba Adekunle Aromolaran Civic Centre, invited guests were treated to a display of numerous cultures of the Ijesa people, tagged 2023 Iwude Ijesa Festival Cultural Day organized by the Planning Committee ahead of the 2023 Iwude Ijesa Festival grand finale of Saturday 23rd. The event was partly sponsored by the famous Ogedengbe family.
The programme started with a traditional adamo Ijesa musical display by the Egboro Cultural Troupe from Ijebuijesa, Oriade local government, then and many other outstanding stage play by the different groups.
Adebayo Rawlings Adamo Ijesa music was at the bandstand as he intermittently dished out adamo music in interludes.
The day proceeded with the presentation of the divers’ Ijesa dishes that whet the appetite of dignitaries and attendees.
Some of the chefs took time to explain the ingredients used in the preparation and the technique required to come up with such fascinating delicacies. The aroma from the foods could be perceived from all the corners of the 2000 capacity event hall.
The show was capped with the much-expected cultural dance, parade of Omididan Ijesa Contest and rendition of Ijesa folklores and music. Here, we were taken aback by the uniformity, diversity and acrobatic displays from Ijesa youngsters. It was really colourful and entertaining.
