Police take over Erinmo-Ijesa Prayer Mountain

In order to prevent further mayhem following the shooting incident on Monday, 11/12/2023, at the prayer mountain Ori Oke Erinmo, the Osun State Police Command has taken over the mountain.

The Commissioner of Police of the Osun State Command, CP Isyaku Mohammed, who announced the closure of the mountain on Wednesday, said the action was necessary at this point in time to halt the nefarious activities presently occurring on the mountain. It is a public and tourist center belonging to all, not an individual.

The Osun Police Commissioner said, “There must be no movement to and from the mountain for now, pending the outcome of the police investigation.”

CP Mohammed further stated that there would be no climbing of the Ori-Oke Agbara in Erinmo-Ijesa for now until further notice, and no burials would be allowed on the mountain.

“The police directed one Samuel Adegoke Odeyemi Bojesomo, known as Arole, to report himself to the police to explain his involvement in the mayhem this week, Monday, 11th of December 2023.”

The police warned that anyone found violating the order would find themselves to blame.

Recall the attempt by the late Prophet Odeyemi Joseph Bojesomo’s children to change the name of Erinmo-Ijesa Prayer Mountain and bury their father there, which had been resisted by the people of Erinmo Ijesa. They have vowed to protect their heritage from being desecrated by the Bojesomo family and their cohorts.
