Ijesa Felates Club has installed its new Director General, Very Rev Dr. Biodun Ogunbeku. He officially assumed the position on Saturday 13th January, 2024, at the event of the Club's Annual General Meeting.
As the 22nd Director General, he will lead and engage Ijesa Felates Club 12-member Executive Committee for a period of two club years. 2024 to 2026.

At the three-in-one programme, featuring Annual General Meeting, Recognition/Awards Presentation for two distinguished members with plaques and inauguration of new executive committee members held on Saturday, at the Club House, off Imo, Ilesa International Brewery-Ibadan/Akure express way junction, Dr Ogunbeku was inaugurated as Director General and eleven other new executive committee members were also inaugurated.
Earlier in a chat with KAKAKIOODUA a Trustee of the Club, Mr. Samuel Olufade Aluko, who was also Director General, 1989 to 1990, said, Ijesa Felates Club is dated back to 1966 when young boys, some of them just graduating from secondary schools decided to form a club as "Fellow Mates". The pioneer members were Prince Seyi Lufadeju, late Dr. Akintola Omole and late Niran Kupoluyi, later Oba Engr. Adedoyin Adelekun joined them and the club started growing.
Trustee Aluko remarked that the club had continued to grow in leaps and bounds. "One doesn't need to apply to join the club, it is Felates members that lookout for potential members and invite them after which they are interviewed and inducted." He said
Earlier in his address, the Immediate Past President of the Club, Prince Gbenga Lufadeju said, during his tenure as Director General, "numerous successful social and cultural events were organized, fostering a sense of community among our members. These events included an Annual Ayo competition, Youth engagement, Scholarship, Easter Family Party and lecture on health and interactive sessions that were carried out online during the Covid times. The Club is looking at the ways these mentioned activities could be remodelled to be beneficial and worthwhile. We recognize all our coordinators in particular Dr Niran Oginni and his team for a job well done. The Clubs active participation and positive impacts in the Annual Iwude Outing should be revisited and improved upon.
"We also appreciate and thank all our members who have contributed both financially and morally to achieve the above mentioned Club activities in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives."
He listed some of the achievements of the immediate past administration to include; community development/empowerment initiatives, COVID 19 aftermath welfare package, progress on the library project, initiated tree planting project, prudent financial management and participation of members at many joyous occasions among others.
Prince Lufadeju also extended his best wishes to the new Director General for his success in his new role as he assured him of his availability to assure a seamless transition.
The newly inaugurated Director General in his acceptance speech described the day as a happy one for him.
"I am happy beyond description to be considered to lead this highly referred and preferred club which is populated by proud, resourceful and committe of ljesa faithful. He said as he requested for approval of other members on the list of Executive Committee members with whom he will drive his vision for the club.
