Stop Feeding The Citizenry With Falsehood About Your Establishment - Osun APC Cautions OIRS Chairman

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come hard on the administration of the state Governor Ademola Adeleke, stating that the quality of a government cannot be better than the quality of those working in such administration.

The state chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today observed that the reasons for the visible intractable challenges facing the Adeleke administration have been the dearth of men of integrity to man some of the key posts in the rudderless and confused government.

According to the state APC chairman: "Few days ago, on a popular radio programme monitored in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, one Mr Adesola Adewumi, the Chairman of Osun Internal Revenue (OIRS), who was the special guest, embarked on a crass misinformation to mislead and confuse the citizenry about the activities of his establishment.

Adewumi, who was invited to shed light on the 'Harmonised Bill' that the Agency is promoting, also had on the panel one Engr. Atoyebi Akinmade, who handled technical explanation of the initiative.

It is suffice to state that while the Harmonised Bill initiative in Osun started during former Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration, the OIRS chairman feigned ignorance of the bill that was passed into law and assented to by  Oyetola on the 12th day of December, 2019 to give legal backing to the initiative.

What baffled us as a party was that when a caller informed that the previous State of Assembly actually passed a 'Harmonisation and Codification law' during the Oyetola administration and that he would like to know how the new law being promoted by the OIRS Chairman was different from the past law?

Akinmade who seemed to be smart and intelligent agreed that the law was passed in 2019 but what they are doing at the moment is to implement the law but surprisingly, the OIRS Chairman,  Adewumi, interjected by saying that no harmonisation and codification law was ever passed and whoever that was saying that was lying from the pit of hell, daring whoever cared to bring out such law.

We, as a party, hereby bring to the knowledge of  the reading and listening public the existence of the law so passed by the House of Assembly in 2019 and to expose the gross incompetence of a man saddled with the responsibility of heading the Osun Internal Revenue Service.

One will think that a technocrat that will head such a sensitive agency like OIRS will be abreast of basic laws passed by the state government and not to ignorantly deny such law to the embarrassment of the state government and the  State House of Assembly.

Our advice to the state government is to copiously advertise the position of the Chairman of OIRS to enable knowledgeable, competent, brilliant, and qualified person to drive the agency without further delay.

Sooko TAJUDEEN LAWAL,                       Chairman, Osun State APC.
