ILEGRAMMS AT 90: Alumni Recognize Oyetola for Restoring School's Honour.... Blast Aregbesola for "unthinking" policy....As Oyetola Receives Legacy Award

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has been extolled for his "huge act of kindness" by restoring the name, dignity and pride of the Ilesa Grammar School after what was described as aberrant and clumsy educational policy of the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregesola.

This laudation was expressed by the National President of the Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association, Engr Obisesan Daramola, on the occasion of the 90th Founder's Day Anniversary Celebrations of the prestigious school.

Daramola, in a speech sub-titled "The Dark Clouds 2017-2020," said a cloud came upon Ilesa Grammar School in 2017 when the then Osun State Government, headed coincidentally by an Ijesa son, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, initiated a schools re-classification policy which in the process impacted their Alma Mater.

For three years, according to Daramola, the school compound was overtaken by bushes and trees and was a good habitat for rodents, antelopes, sheep and goats.

However in October 2020, "God used the former Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, to give us back our school," Daramola submitted.

He added that Oyetola "restored with our name our dignity, our identity, our pride, and our honour."

He concluded that the current and old students of the school, famous for being the first secondary school in Ijesaland and second in the whole of Osun State, "are grateful to Almighty God and to former Governor Oyetola" for his profound gesture and exceptional magnanimity.

The old students association of the Ilesa Grammar School ( ILEGSOSA) has scheduled to honour the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, at the grand finale of activities marking the school's 90th Founders' Day.

In the letter announcing the conferment of Legacy Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education & Community Development on the former governor, the Association expresses her gratitude to Oyetola for ensuring a life-saving policy reversal during his governorship "which resulted in the restoration of the name ( pride) and uniform ( the identity)" of the great school.

The Association equally adds  that, "This singular act further bears eloquent testimony to your visionary leadership, foresight, and of being empathetic, strategic, emotionally intelligent, analytical, resourceful, principled, fair, judicious, compassionate, creative, pragmatic..."

The letter also reads in part, "On behalf of the leadership and members of Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association ( ILEGSOSA), in due gratitude and recognition of this exceptional unequalled and unparalleled leadership demonstrated, the noble role played by your Excellency, we write to notify your honour of the conferment of the Legacy Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education & Community Development during the grand finale of the week-long epoch making event."

The award ceremony will hold at Sambeatz Event Centre, Ilesa, on the 10th February, 2024 by 12noon.
